Letters from you

by Cori S.

Each word

Written on the page

I couldn’t guess just what they’ll say

You hurt me,

Just by talking,

On and on you go

But I wanted to know

Every subject

All your rejects

Your brand new shoes

And your perfume

I don’t know

Why I keep

Reading on,

Every time

Feels like I’m

Led along

Should I tell you something

I think you’d want to know?

Oh, I’ve read your letters

You’ll never know.

Day by day,

On and on we go

Like a spinning top

That never slows

You tell me

As I grow

I can’t tell

if I love you or I hate you but I know

I wanna hear all about your day

I wanna know the things you’ve got to say

I wanna be a person, too

Who hates himself and falls in love with you

I don’t know

Why I keep

Reading on,

Every time

It feels like I’m just getting

Led along

Should I tell you something

I think you’d want to know?

Oh, I’ve read your letters

You’ll never know.

At times I can’t decide if I should keep it closed

The part of me that’s talking about what could’ve been,

Hey now,

Was it all just for show?

Was it my fault? Tell me, I wanna know

All this

Is seriously a shame

And every time that I run, I can feel the strain

Of a pull

Back to you

And every single drug

It couldn’t keep me from

A wish that a little kid would

Make believe every single chance that comes

I don’t know

Why I keep reading on,

Every time

feels like I’m led along,

Should I tell you something

I think you’d want to know?

I’ve read your letters

You’ll never know.

I’ve read your letters

You’ll never know.
